When Osmond Marketing needed a senior publicist to help with pitching and content writing, it was clear that Kristen Skladd was the perfect fit for the job. Hard-working and passionate, Kristen doesn’t walk away from a challenge—in fact, she makes it a goal to accept every opportunity in the hope of learning something new.
“I want to make the most out of every day and learn all that I can,” Kristen says. “I try to never turn down opportunities because they give me a chance to grow and expand on what I might be unfamiliar with.”
Kristen has an impressive background in reporting and public relations.
Starting her career fresh out of college as a journalist, she served as a daily reporter for over 10 outlets within the Metro Detroit area, as well as a news anchor in Michigan. Within just a few years, she was the lead reporter for two award-winning ABC affiliate morning news stations, where she reported on the stories of people across mid-Michigan, as well as the Flint water crisis.
Since then, Kristen has transitioned into a career in public relations, where she has excelled in the hospitality, fitness, and food industries. She has even worked with celebrity chefs like Robert Irvine from the Food Network.
In her role at Osmond Marketing, Kristen focuses on outreach to local and national broadcast and print publications, as well as creative campaign strategies.
While searching for a new opportunity to grow as a publicist and sharpen her skills in other industries, she stumbled across Osmond Marketing and knew it would be a great fit for her.
“I knew from my first conversation with the team that this was a welcoming and supportive place to work,” she says. “I enjoy being able to be a part of a real team-like atmosphere. Even though our team members live all over the country, support is constantly offered, accomplishments are recognized, and a sense of belonging is really evident.”
“Kristen has been such a wonderful addition to our team,” says Emily Woll, COO of Osmond Marketing. “Not only does she have over 10 years of experience in the field, but she’s also determined to drive results for her clients and has an excellent work ethic. She cares about her clients’ success, and it shows!”
Kristen is just as impressive in her spare time as she is at work.
“Some of my favorite hobbies are running, traveling, playing ‘mom’ to my rescue dog, Jalapeño, and practicing Spanish, which I started learning daily at the beginning of the pandemic. I also sit on the local board of the nonprofit organization Girls on the Run.”
When asked how she would describe herself to others, Kristen was quick to point out the similarities between herself and her dog. “We’re both always up for a nap, will get out of a deep sleep to go outside at a moment’s notice, love to exercise, love to eat treats all day, and get hangry,” she says.
If Jalapeño is like Kristen, he must be one of the most dedicated and talented pups out there!
