Three historic vacant buildings in Bristol, Virginia will be converted to become the 70-room Sessions Hotel, by Creative Boutique Hotels and Cornerstone Hospitality. Interior Image Group (IIG) will design the property.
The buildings to be rehabbed include the 1920s Jobbers Candy Company, Service Mills, and Bristol Grocery. During the development, the structures will be connected to form the hotel, which will showcase the city’s musical history via its design. In fact, the hotel derives its name from that history and the Bristol Sessions of 1927, considered to be the “Big Bang” of country music.
Elements of the original buildings are to be retained, such as grain chutes and brick floors. Guestroom pillow designs will nod to old corn meal bags from mills. Bristol native Moon Bound Girl has also been commissioned for an art piece.
